10/19/2004: "News from the Anglican front"
Those of you who keep up with such things know that yesterday was a big day in the history of the Anglican Communion. The Windsor Report of the Lambeth Commission, a year in preparation, was published and quickly devoured by Anglicans around the world. It is being called the last, best hope for maintaining the unity of the Communion.
I haven't commented on it because, quite frankly, I stopped reading it part way through. Boring as all get out. I also stopped because I read enough of the responses to it to know it's a dead letter. Conservatives don't think it went far enough, revisionists have already indicated that they're going to politely ignore it, and everybody's playing Humpty Dumpty with it.
In the interest of keeping EI's faithful readers apprised, however, I want to include this link, to which I was alerted by Kendall Harmon on his Titusonenine blog. Be sure to visit the link, it will tell you everything you need to know about the biggest news in Anglicanism since Henry VIII gave Catherine of Aragon the heave-ho.
