09/11/2004: "Sweden: multiculturalist witches' brew"

What happens when far-left multiculturalists join together with far-right Islamic fascists? You get Malmo, Sweden:

The police now publicly admit what many Scandinavians have known for a long time: They no longer control the situation in the nations's third largest city. It is effectively ruled by violent gangs of Muslim immigrants. Some of the Muslims have lived in the area of Roseng�rd, Malm�, for twenty years, and still don't know how to read or write Swedish. Ambulance personnel are attacked by stones or weapons, and refuse to help anybody in the area without police escort. The immigrants also spit at them when they come to help. Recently, an Albanian youth was stabbed by an Arab, and was left bleeding to death on the ground while the ambulance waited for the police to arrive. The police themselves hesitate to enter parts of their own city unless they have several patrols, and need to have guards to watch their cars, otherwise they will be vandalized. "Something drastic has to be done, or much more blood will be spilled" says one of the locals.

The number of people emigrating from the city of Malm� is reaching record levels. Swedes, who a couple of decades ago decided to open the doors to Muslim "refugees" and asylum seekers, are now turned into refugees in their own country and forced to flee their homes. The people abandoning the city mention crime and fear of the safety of their children as the main reason for leaving.

Rapes in Sweden as a whole have increased by 17% just since the beginning of 2003, and have had a dramatic increase during the past decade. Gang rapes, usually involving Muslim immigrant males and native Swedish girls, have become commonplace. Two weeks ago, 5 Kurds brutally raped a 13-year-old Swedish girl.

Now here's a really interesting thought: what happens when the ferociously pro-gay Swedish government (which recently sentenced a Christian pastor to a month in jail for preaching an anti-homosexuality sermon) collides with the ferociously anti-gay Muslim "community." Do you suppose the Malmo police will be seen hauling a local imam off to jail charged with a "hate crime"? Or how about this scenario: what does the government, which considers any form of discrimination to be the ultimate in anti-social behavior, do when Muslims start demanding the right to use shar'ia law and treat women like property?

Sweden is a toxic combination of completely incompatible ideologies. How many other Western nations will join the Swedes in this kind of suicidal social experimentation?

How horrible! I read a while ago that the most popular name for newborn baby boys in Holland in 2002 was 'Mohammed'. How long till Dutch cities are like Malmo? It makes my blood chill.

Oh, for the author to have put quotation marks around the word "refugee" is shameful. I know two fine and honourable Bosnian Muslims who would have been killed by Serbs had they not succeeded in relocating to Scandinavia, which opened its arms to many during the civil war in Yugoslavia. While there is undoubtedly a large amount of insincere asylum seekers, would you leave the honest ones to be ethnically cleansed?

My husband visits Sweden on business often which is why I wanted the URL. You're right in that part of the problem is Europeans. They have not tried very hard to integrate the Muslim immigrants into their societies. All over Europe there are Muslim ghettos filled with people who don't speak the tongue of their host country and don't accept its customs. Even the educated among them have trouble getting good jobs. But don't discount the influence of extremist Islam either. These are not gentle communities trying to learn about their new environments. These are places where Muslim women are subject to violence if not chaperoned and where European women are fair game.

Christopher: I agree with you about asylum seekers completely, though I'm sure Europeans could do a much better job of separating the legitimate cases from those seeking to infiltrate their societies. I do think that, unlike the Catholic example you mention, the religion of the immigrants is pertinent, in that Muslims are generally (not always, but especially so in Arab and South Asian nations) to regard non-Muslims as infidels whose culture is degraded and whose political orders are contrary to the will of Allah. Sweden is by no means the only country that has had this problem (Denmark, Australia, France come to mind), and it isn't Bosnians who are causing it. I suspect that the national origin of the immigrants, in combination with the brand of Islam they embrace, is a particularly toxic combination.
